PROLINE International Shootout 2010

International Shoot out 2010 – Race Report.

We arrived at the Sunshine Coast track Friday afternoon for the practice session, due to the number of people the organisers decided to run controlled practice based on the heats for the actual event itself.  Everyone would get a minimum of 2 runs to get their set up right for qualifying on Saturday.

Saturday Morning.

Round 1
Buggy was up first and with the likes of Matt Griffin, Josh Pain, Jason Dyckhoff, Kylie McBride, Zac Ryan and the man himself Renaud Savoya we knew that it we would have to be on our game……

Aaron looked really good in the warm up and was really happy with the Proline Caliber m3’s. Showing great speed Aaron qualified 3rd overall after the first round of qualifying with only Renaud Savoya and Jason Dyckhoff in front of him.

Next up was Truggy, however, a steering servo died on us in the warm up and that was us done for.

Unfortunately, after just completing the first round of qualifying the heavens opened up on us and racing was cancelled for the rest of the day.

Sunday – Finals Day
We were sitting pretty in Buggy (3rd position outright), but had a long haul back in Truggy (Q 30th in Truggy).

Truggy C was up first and we were at the back of the pack.  After a frantic start Aaron was  in first place by the end of lap 1 closely followed by Klye Mcbride (another bad qualifier) Aaron and Kyle settled into a race of 2 and in the end Kyle sneaked in the win with Aaron second.

Truggy B was our next hurdle and once again after a furious first lap Aaron was in the lead and followed by Kyle and the battled again for first and second with Aaron happliy taking second spot after a near miss with a back maker.

Truggy A-Main Final.
This was it we had worked our way to the A-Main!!  However, the top 3 seemed along way ahead of us on the start long (we were in 12th spot), but we knew we had 30 mins to work our way up to the front of the pack.  The hooter sounded and 15 truggies launched down the front straight, Aaron had another great start and by lap 1 was in fourth place.  The battle was really on from that point and the top four (Aaron, Kylie McBride, Jason Dyckhoff and Renaud Savoya) were in a tight battle.

By the half way mark Renaud had pulled a small lead, with the other 3 in a tight battle.   With 5 mins to go Aaron was in first spot and being chased by the pack.  It came down to the last lap with Aaron holding onto first place by just under 2 seconds over Jason Dyckhoff and Renaud Savoya third

Buggy - A Main Final
With only a 10 min break it was into the Buggy warm up.  Before we knew it eh hooter had gone off and we were racing.  Aaron got a great start and was in second place after lap 1.  It came down to a battle of 5 (Renaud Savoya, Matt Griffin, Jason Dyckhoff, Kyle Mcbride and Aaron) as they cleared away from the pack.   Around the 15min mark the leading pack came up onto the back markers, unfortunately Aaron was taken out by one of them and while the car was still running we were falling back from the leaders.

Several minutes later we were out when the dog drive came out of the front diff (we later discovered that the bearing had failed from the impact with the back maker)

Overall the Proline Caliber M3 tires performed faultlessly from 35 degree heat to blue groove and in the wet the Proline Holeshot M3’s were the tire of choice.

We now a preparing for the National Buggy Titles next month

Cheers
Mark and Aaron Stringer
